Namgyal Monastery and TsuglagKhang (Dalai Lama’s temple) are the most important Tibetan Buddhist landmarks. Thousands of Buddhist monks live and spend time there to practice Buddhism. Amongst natural attractions, Triund, Dal Lake, Dharmkot, Bhagsu etc are very famous. The green forest cover provides a very beautiful scenery and is highly recommended for long walks as well as trekking.
Adventure Travel in Mcleodganj
Mcleodganj to Triund ( altitude 2900 meters) trek of 9 km is a very popular trekking activity in Mcleodganj which can be completed in one day. Some of the trekkers spend a single night in Triund camping base. More adventurous trekkers trek 4 km further to Laka Got (altitude 3900 meters) for ‘Snow Line’ trek. It’s a comparatively easy trek and someone in a reasonably fit physical condition can complete the full circuit it in 2 days.
For more serious trekkers and campers,, Mcleodganj is a launching pad for a large number of longer treks which lead to or pass through Kullu, Kangra, Spiti, Chamba etc and may last for long durations, sometimes multiple weeks.
